Diesel average falls for third straight week, reports EIA

The diesel average fell 2.2 cents to $3.244 per gallon, following declines of 1.9 cents and 0.3 cents, respectively, over the previous two weeks.

The average price per gallon of diesel gasoline dropped for the third straight week this week, according to data issued by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).

The diesel average fell 2.2 cents to $3.244 per gallon, following declines of 1.9 cents and 0.3 cents, respectively, over the previous two weeks.

Prior to this three-week stretch of declines, the average price per gallon rose a cumulative 27.8 cents. Despite these declines, the diesel average has remained above the $3 per gallon mark since the week of March 26, when it was at $3.01 per gallon.

Compared to the same week a year ago, the diesel average is up 75.5 cents, which is up from last week’s annual spread of 74.2 cents.

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil is currently trading at $65.85 on the New York Mercantile Exchange, which is down compared to last week’s $66.10.
